It only takes a few minutes from Glenelg to get to these patches. It is definitely a mid-winter ground, and crushed cockles for berley is a must. The size of whiting caught from this area is just above legal length. When the whiting are in this area, you are literally guaranteed a good haul of fish, even though the fish move out again fairly quickly.

The best times to fish this area is on a slack tide, half and hour to an hour before and after a tidal change. This area is considered to be an extremely safe ground, because if the weather blows in, you can head back over the main sand bar within minutes.
