| Wardang Island - Wardang South
This area is great for the average sized boat, and offers a good chance for snook hookups. A good method to catching snook is to troll continually back and forth. If you don't have any success, keep trolling until you pick up a snapper on the lure. Usually late afternoon is the best time for this. Once the Snapper hook up, drop anchor, and start hauling them in, using either cockles or half pilchards for bait.
Whiting and Flathead can also be taken here in abundance.
Do not anchor at night, as moderate southerly winds can make the situation dangerous, and make reefs difficult to negotiate. Also, when trolling for snook, do not get to close to the reef formations. An echo sounder is a must in these and any boating situations. |
