Wardang Island - Whiting Patch

Wardang Island - Whiting Patch

This site offers good areas of sand patches where whiting can be found. The water is some what shallow and the bottom can easily be seen, but the catches of whiting can vary from small to medium. As such be observant of the legal minimum sizes for Sand and King George Whiting.

Wardang Island itself holds a total exclusion zone as this is where the Callicci (Help ...... how do you spell Callicci !) Virus was inadvertently released by the CSIRO. The waters for 100 metres around this island are in fact an aquatic reserve, and are out of bounds.

A Snook run is possible via the line of site, but trolling should be quicker than the norm, as your lure could snag the weedy bottom.
