Mt Gambier Pair Plead Guilty To Fisheries Offences

A southern zone rock lobster fishery licence holder and the registered master of a southern zone rock lobster vessel pleaded guilty to various fisheries offences in the Adelaide Magistrates Court last Friday (10 March 2001).
Marie Ann Dwyer (49) and Anthony Kym Dwyer (43), both of Mount Gambier pleaded guilty to falsifying details on a fish catch return.
Anthony Dwyer also pleaded guilty to other offences including failing to follow directions from a Fisheries Officer and using abusive or insulting language towards a Fisheries Officer.
Anthony Dwyer was fined a total of $1,214.75 and Marie Dwyer $780.75.
Acting Manager Fisheries Services Mr Brian Hemming said the abusive behaviour of one of the accused towards fisheries officers was a concern.
"Fisheries Compliance Officers should be able to go about their lawful duties without the threat of physical or verbal abuse," Mr Hemming said.
