The Queenfish Collective Effort

Taken during our fishing stint in the Norther Territory, April 1999. Catching this Queenfish was a collective effort from all of us. Both Chinook and I were targeting small species for live bait, using a No. 5 hook and strips of Dog Mackerel for bait, and Coho would rig the live bait up with an 8/0 hook on a float.

We caught a small Trevally, hooked him up on the rig, and cast him out. Instead of the float travelling down wind and down current, the whole rig race off in the opposite direction. Suddenly, about 50 metres from the boat, there were two huge hits and splashes on the rig, and Coho reeled the Queenfish in, where Chinook gaffed him. I was standing by, taking the above memorable shot. Truly a team effort, and the sashimi was great that night !
