A fairly short run from Outer Harbour, the Norma Wreck is inclined to run hot as well as cold. At various times, you can take a big snapper and whiting and bump into a white pointer, where as other times, it is good for trevally and drummer. It can also produce the other end of the spectrum - zip !
The Norma Wreck should be fished at dawn and dusk, or if need be, spend the night out if the weather is fine. Best baits are squid head, pilchards, or fish fillets. Cockles can also be userd for whiting and trevally.
The marks are usually defined, but using an echo sounder in this area will ensure that you are over the wreck. It sits in about 13 metres of water.
When snapper are being reported at Outer harbour and behind Torrens Island, you can bet many of the schools are coming in via the Norma Wreck. |
