| The Ledge
This area around Coffin Bay is ideal for fishing when the weather has turned for the worst, and you're after a well sheltered area. It is a clearly defined reef, and yields whiting, flathead, trevally, sweep and salmon trout.
The wind can come from almost any direction, but it cannot whip up the seas too much in this area due to its land mass protection. Wath for the tidal rip in this area, and the ground is only 5 minutes away from the ramp. Try anchoring as close as possible to the Coffin Bay side, to minimise the effect of the rip.
Not too many large fish are caught here, barring the occasional big snapper at night. Cockles is the number one bait, and light gear is vital. |
