Welcome to fishSA.com, the premier recreational sports fishing website in South Australia. For those of you who are new to fishSA.com, the FSA Management Team welcomes you. Many of you who make the weekly if not the monthly pilgrimage to this site, you will always find dramatic changes and updates to fishSA.com |
 |
What are your views regarding the introduction of a Recreational Fishing License? A growing body of anglers around the state believe such a license will secure a fairer share of the resource and a greater say in habitat protection methods currently not afforded our sector. Do you think a RFL will put you off fishing or help manage it better? Who should it apply to and how much should it cost? Have your say and vote HERE.

SARFAC is the recognised peak body, whose role is to advise government on recreational angling issues and to advocate on behalf of the 235,000 recreational anglers in South Australia.
The recreational sector spends 1 million dollars every day of the year in pursuit of recreational angling, is the fifth largest employer supporting 15,000 jobs and has a total investment of 1.2 billion dollars in boats and tackle.
They urgently want all anglers to provide their wish list to SARFAC so that these can be collated and presented to government.

| Carp Reminder for Fishers |
| |
 | Fishers are reminded of the rules that apply to catching European carp in the River Torrens, Mawson Lakes and all other freshwater watercourses in South Australia. |
| |
| | European carp are an exotic species and as a result, it is an offence for this species to be returned to the water alive. |
| |
| | Manager Compliance Operations, Paul Tatarelli said there had been an increasing number of reports recently of fishers catching and then releasing carp. |
| |
| | "As an introduced species that has adapted to local conditions, European carp dominate many of our freshwater rivers and streams and have a major impact on the health of these waterways and the native fish that populate them" Mr Tatarelli said. |
| |
| | "Any carp that are caught by recreational fishers should be destroyed humanely and disposed of responsibly". |
 |
| |
 | Seasonal closures are declared to protect some heavily fished species during their breeding seasons. Female blue crabs, giant crabs, yabbies and rock lobsters with external eggs are protected because they are close to the completion of their breeding cycle. If caught, they must be returned to the water immediately. For more Click HERE |
