With emphasis being placed nowadays on the management of our existing fish stocks, as well as imposed seasonal restrictions to specific species of fish, Boat Charter Services are becoming frequently popular if not the norm in ensuring an exciting day's fishing out on the waters. To this end, Coffin Bay Fishing Charters, (CBFC) owned and run by Glenn Boucher, provides quality service in fishing charters and accommodation.

About Glenn ..........

Glenn is 46 yrs of age, married, no kids, and has a 25 acre farmlet on the road to the "Ledge", with your normal proverbial assortment of Ducks, Geese, Chooks, Horses, and Olive trees as well as a Rhodesian Ridgeback for a family pooch ! He moved over to Coffin Bay in 1991, after a career as a medical photographer at Flinders Medical Center, but has frequently haunted the west coast since 1973, satisfying his addiction to surfing and fishing. Received his Coxswains ticket after several years of learning the trade with a pro/mate out of Adelaide, targeting KGs, Snapper (including the dreaded longline), Sharks, Crabs, Squid and Mulloway.

Charter Specifics ..........

CBFC has been running since October 2000, and has progressively gone from strength to strength in business and reputation. Glenn considers himself to be the new breed of charter operators, as opposed to the commercially licensed charters. Glenn has authored several articles for SA Angler and enjoys competitive sailing as well.

The pride of the fleet is a 1999 Seafarer Victory 20 footer in 2c survey, 150hp 1999 Yamaha, surveyed for 6+1. 27meg, VHF, HF radios, stereo, CDMA phone, Koden colour sounder, Lowrance LCD sounder, Furuno GPS. The requirements for passengers/fishers are a minimum of 3, and a maximum of 5 for full day trip. Please contact us for price listings. These prices are subject to change, without notice.

Duration for a half day charter is 5 hours, with approximately 40nm traversed, where as an 8-10 hr full day covers about 60-80nm. Most other charters tend not to cover these distances, but CBFC ensures that its clients fish onto virgin spots on the full day.

Accommodation is also available, with a 3 bedroom holiday house in Coffin's for rent. Please contact us for pricings. All mod cons available. Bedding is 1 Queen, 1 Double and 2 Bunks. No Linen provided. Package deals of 10% off the lot for Charter/Accom combined are available. Barbecue Facilities are available, as well as a Fish Cleaning area. Freezer provisions are also at the House.

Bait, tackle, rods reels are supplied, with no charge for lost sinkers, hooks. However, drop a rod over the side and you pay for it - understandable. Tea & Coffee is also available. Lunch and nibblies are strictly BYO, although canned tucker is stored just in case. Under nominal weather conditions, fresh fillets can be cooked on board if requested, for consumption at sea. All recreational limits apply to the catch. Clients keep all fish caught.

Glenn's aim is to give clients a memorable day out, provide great scenery and hopefully a nice haul of fish. Traversing just a few miles offshore and skirting along the coast (which is mostly national park), roos & emus can frequently be seen on the beach. He is extremely knowledgeable about marine biology and the local history, giving one the opportunity to learn about fish habits, bird life and the local fishing history.
