  Boating  Boating Knots

Bowline on a Bight

This knot forms a bowline in the middle of a line.

This can be useful when you want a non-slip loop but a free end isn't handy.

  • Double a section of line and form an eye in the doubled line.
  • Pass the free end up through the eye, forming a double loop below the eye.
  • Spread open the free end and pass it over the double loop and up past the eye, ending above the eye, around the double standing line.
  • Tighten down the knot, by holding the double standing line and pulling on the free end side of the loop until it snugs up against the eye.
