  Boating

Within Sth Australia, every type of pleasure craft that is propelled by a motor (even if it has sails) in the coastal or inland waters covered by the Harbours and Navigation Act must also be registered with the Department of Transport, marine Safety Section. This involves displaying registeration numbers and a label on the boat.

It is an offence for a person without a license or a permit to take control of a motor boat unless:

  • a licensed operator is in charge of the boat and able to take control if required; and
  • the unlicensed person is under the direct supervision of the licensed operator, is at least 12 years of age and the motor boat does not exceed 10 knots.
One main criteria with any form of boating, whether powered or under sail, is SAFETY. Pre-Planning a boat trip is a must in ensuring that you get back in one piece. Hopefully, some of those sections displayed below will be of value and usage to you. However, I can't take all the credit for this whole section as I researched each topic and used what images I could find on the Internet.
